Company History

Originally a part of U Koen & Company, the Monroe branch was purchased in the early 1950s by B F Maxwell and a partner. After buying out their partner in 1955, the company name was changed to Pelican State Cigar and Tobacco.

Since then, the company has undergone expansion and technological renovation to keep up with their growing product line and customers.

Today, Pelican is a wholesale supplier that has a proven track record of reliability, quality, and unsurpassed customer service.

We are a family-owned, local business that is still devoted to our founding principles of reliability, quality, and unsurpassed customer service.

We have had 55 successful years and have garnered a long list of convenience store owners as our direct clients. With a line up of products that include everything from cigarettes, cigars, tobacco, candy, grocery, grocery non-food, store supplies, HBA (Health and beauty aids), to refrigerated/frozen foods we provide prompt deals and easy delivery.
